NYC – May Day Women’s Strike – Solidarity with Immigrant Workers
May 1 @ 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
International Women’s Strike NYC will be in the streets on May Day as an anti-capitalist feminist contingent. We are united under an anti-racist platform that demands full social provisioning, labor rights, environmental justice, reproductive justice and an end to gender violence.
At 12 noon in Washington Square we are joining The New York Worker Center Federation, IWJ and The Food Chain Alliance in their May Day call. Our contingent meets at the Southwest corner. WEAR RED and look for our banner.
At 4 PM in Union Square we will meet up for the May Day march. Our contingent meets at the Northwest corner. WEAR RED and look for our banner.
Children are welcome and expected at both meet ups.
The NYC International Women’s Strike is an organizing center, which emerged through planning for for the women’s strike on March 8th, 2017. We are immigrant women, trans and cis women, academics, working class women, queer and non-binary people, organizing for our own liberation and in solidarity with all immigrants and the liberation struggles of Black and Native people fighting against white supremacy and imperialist land theft.
The New York Worker Center Federation is an autonomous multiracial movement of workers and immigrants organizing across sectors and issues to build the power of the people whose labor fuels this city, and consists of Street Vendor Project, El Centro del Inmigrante, New Immigrant Community Empowerment, Cidadao Global, Laundry Workers Center, DRUM, ROC NY, New York Taxi Workers Alliance, Retail Action Project, and Enlace.
