Geneva, NY – 5 to 9 Party
March 8 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
When the working day is done, most women start their unpaid, second shift: caring for children, preparing meals, and washing dishes. The hours of 5-9 can be deeply rewarding, but they can also be lonely, exploitative, and full of drudgery. It’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it! So women all over the world are fighting back against a sexist, racist system that exploits us at work and then again when we get home.
On International Women’s Day, the Geneva Women’s Assembly invites all feminist fighters to a 5-9 party. We will celebrate all of the women in the FLX, the US, and the world who have been dancing on the picket lines, shouting #metoo, and building our power. On March 8th, we will eat, dance, dream, scheme and reclaim the 5-9 as the time that sustains our movements, our solidarity, and ourselves.
